Augustine James "Jim" Beakey

Mr. Augustine James “Jim” Beakey, age 88 of Adolphus, KY, passed away, Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services are to be held at Friday, October 4, 2019 at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Simpson Co., KY.  Military honors will be given by the Simpson County Honor Guard.

Jim was born October 28, 1930 in Chicago, IL to the late Arthur Lewis Beakey and the late Isabelle Schwager Beakey.  He was preceded in death by a son Augustine James Beakey, III “Bimbo”, a daughter Stella Clinton Beakey, stepdaughter Shirley Smith, son-in-law Mike Shelton and 4 sisters and a brother.

He is survived by his spouse Elsie Britt Beakey, 3 children Rhonda Shelton of Great Bend, KS, Kenny Arthur Beakey of Great Bend, KS, Kevin Beakey of Great Bend, KS, and 3 stepchildren Crystal Barber of Allen Co., KY, Robert Barber of Portland, TN, Cathy Henderson of Franklin, KY and 54 grandchildren.

Mr. Beakey was a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Warrick during the Korean War.  He was retired driller for Allen Drilling Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post #62.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM Thursday, October 3, 2019 and from 6:00 AM until service time on Friday.
