Mrs. Anita C. Crabtree, age 87, of Franklin, Kentucky, entered into rest Thusday, August 29th,2024 at 11:58 PM at the Oak Hill Senior Living Center in Portland, Tennessee.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Sunday, September 1st, 2024 at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 1st, 2024 at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Anita was born on January 17, 1937 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Robert Draughon and the late Nancy (Poole) Draughon. She was preceded in death by all of her 10 siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, George O. Crabtree, Sr. of Franklin who cherished, loved, and cared for her unselfishly and faithfully until she passed. She is also survived by 4 sons, George O. “Buddy” Crabtree, Jr. (Jana) of Russellville, Kentucky; Jeff Crabtree (Pam) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Brent Crabtree (Tara) of Russellville, Kentucky; and Scott Crabtree (Kim) of Franklin, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren, Amanda Robey (Adam), Ashley Granato (Jared), Andrea Uhlenhopp (Nick), Morgan Vick (John), Emily Crabtree, and Katie Crabtree as well as 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley Butler, Linda Crabtree, and Donna Bruce, and brother-in-law, Larry Crabtree.
Anita was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her church, and her family fiercely. She was a former employee of Crabtree Furniture Company and raised 4 boys while helping her husband get the business up and running. Together, they ran a family-owned business which was in operation in Franklin for almost 50 years and is still in operation in Russellville. She was also a great seamstress and tailored her children’s outfits. Honestly, she had to do that since they were all in a good shape (nice and round). She had a wonderful sense of humor that was inherited by at least one son (not saying which one – as they will all claim it). She was a voracious reader, loved making crafts and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 804 Church Street, Franklin, KY 42134, Gideons International, or to the Simpson County Literacy Council.
