Mr. Alvis Rhea, age 92 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 9:25 PM at his residence surrounded by his family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 with burial to follow in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson Co., KY. with military honors by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
Mr. Rhea was born November 28, 1924 in Simpson Co., KY. to the late John Sterritt Rhea and the late Lula Sydney Boyd Rhea. He was the husband of the late Mattie Mae Fehrle Rhea. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers David, James, Wendall, Bruce, Billy Gene and Donald Rhea.
He is survived by 2 children Chris Rhea (Maggie) of Franklin, KY., and Betsy Rhea Kullman (John) of Bowling Green, KY., a sister Janie Rhea Mayeur Hall of Franklin, KY., 6 grandchildren Stephanie Lady (Robert), Shannon Brindley, Christopher Rhea and William Rhea (Jamie), Trey Kullman (Annie) and Kristin Kullman Bateman (Dustin), 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Mr. Rhea was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was retired from Potter & Brumfield and a farmer. He was a WWII Army Veteran who survived the D-day Invasion of Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944 at the age of 20.
Visitation will be from 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 and from 6:00 AM until funeral service time on Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
