Phillip Oliver Munday

Mr. Phillip O. Munday, age 67, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Friday, November, 17, 2023 5:25 PM at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory.  Funeral services will be held the same day, Monday, November 20th at 1:00 PM with interment to follow in Portland Memorial Garden in Portland, TN.

Phillip was born in Portland, TN to the late Cecil Moore Munday and the late Vera Mae (Brown) Munday. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Oakley Hudson; and a brother, James Garnet Munday; and 2 brothers-in-law, Charlie Searcy & Russell Byrum.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lou Ellen (Butt) Munday; 2 daughters, Jessica Dawn Hudson and Brandy Lou Turner both of Franklin, KY; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Cole Hudson, Matthew Owen Hudson, Madison Grace Turner and Jackson Edward Turner; 2 great-grandchildren, Anastasia Harlow Hudson & Scarlett Rose Hudson; 4 siblings, Wanda Searcy of White House, TN, Betty Kilmon (James) of Franklin, KY, Diane Byrum Searcy (William) of Portland, TN and Kenny Munday of Louisville, KY.

Phillip was of Baptist faith.  He was a self-employed trim carpenter.  Phillip was an excellent wood craftsman.  His favorite items were a Miller High Life and Winston cigarettes.  Phillip was honest, blunt, funny and was always helping others.  He always kept his family and friends on their toes all the time.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104.  Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
